Welcome to the Los Angeles County Parks & Recreation – UNDERWATER UNIT
Effective July 1, 2012, the Lifeguard Division of the Los Angeles County Parks & Recreation will resume responsibility for the direct oversight and management of the following Los Angeles County Parks & Recreation Underwater Unit programs:
- Advanced Diver Program (“ADP”)
- Underwater Instructor Certification Course (“UICC”)
- Rocks, Rips and Reefs (“The 3R’s”)
In addition, the Lifeguard Division of the Los Angeles County Parks & Recreation plans to revive and re-instate the Los Angeles County Underwater Instructor’s Association to assist the Underwater Unit in conducting these programs.
The Lifeguard Division personnel who will be involved in the direct oversight and management of the Underwater Unit programs are Los Angeles County Certified instructors and former UICC graduates. It is the intent of the Underwater Unit to re-establish and continue the rich traditions associated with these programs by offering standalone Los Angeles County Underwater Unit continuing education and certification programs with no particular affiliation to any agency.
We will continue to update this website with more information on these programs.
In the meantime, please direct all inquiries to:
